Puerh Tea

Categorized as post-fermented black tea, puerh tea is a distinctive Chinese tea among the international tea market. With it long-established history, Hunnan province's puerh gains its famous reputation in both ancient and modern time. Puerh tea is often compressed in the form of Bing (circular flat), Zhuan (brick), and Tuo (round sphere-like). Compressing is the most important process to decide the quality and the unique charateristic of this black tea.

Puerh tea is named after the Puerh County in Hunnan province. The making of green puerh is by compressing green Mao Cha directly, non-fermented rough large leaves, which gives a strong taste but a mellow aroma. Cooked puerh is processed with Mao Cha that is already fermented for a while before it is being compressed, which gives a more profound taste.
